“There is no sincerer love than the love of food”
A mix of fantastic service, a talented chef & fresh local produce – Porters is everything you could ever want and more.
Porters is the new kid on the block that’s changing the idea of pub food in Worcester.
Ryan Porter (The talented chef & owner!) decided he wanted to change the way people saw pub food, he wanted to redefine the dining experience by making the food the star without it being pretentious, and to be honest he seems to be well on the way to doing this!
Ryan came up with the idea of Porters in October 2015 whilst working as a chef in another local establishment and made the dream a reality in early 2016 by taking over the kitchen of The Pheasant in New St. right in the heart of Worcester City Centre.
Together with chef Leon they have introduced a fabulously simple, unpretentious menu that is guaranteed to satisfy anyones appetite.
It features fresh summer dishes such as the zingy Chilli & Lime King Prawn salad, old favourites straight from the grill like the mountainous ‘Big Smoke Burger’, British classics including Beer Battered Fish & Chips and for the lighter lunch – the good old ‘Cheese Sarnie’!
If you still have room for more after that you could try one of the Double Whipped Cream Ice Creams served in a Jam Jar with a choice of equally sumptuous toppings.
We think that Ryan has hit upon a great idea by using the kitchen of a popular local pub to serve his food rather than setting up his own premises, some may say that it has the potential to make whole dining experience seem a little disjointed but to be honest, when we visited we think it actually enhanced the experience – personal attentive service from both Ryan and the bar staff – The best of both worlds!
The idea has proved so popular with the customers that there is even a possibility that the concept could be expanded by Ryan to other pubs in the local area – watch this space!
